Engine

Based on the type of combustion engine are classified into two types:
1. External Combustion Engine(E.C.)
2.Internal Combustion Engine(I.C.)
The basic differnce in these engines is where the combustion takes place whether it is inside the engine or outside the engine.Based on the requirement respective engines are used.

1.External Combustion Engine(E.C.):

In External Combustion Engine(E.C),the combustion of fuel usually takes place outside the engine cylinder.This type of engines are majorily used in Steam Engines in the old days.

Here, the steam(fuel) is undergoing combustion outside the engine cylinder and the work is done again the piston which is transferred to the rail wheel which allows the movement of the train.

2.Internal Combustion Engine(I.C.):

In Internal Combustion Engine(I.C.) the combustion of the fuel usally takes place inside the engine cylinder.The petrol and Diesel engines that are being used in the vehicles now a days are Internal Combustion Engines.The fuel is the mixture of air and petrol/diesel.

   4 ‐ Exhaust

In these engines, the fuel is sent into the engine cylinder using an inlet and ignited using a sparkplug.The gases after combustion goes out through the outlet and the vehicle starts moving.
